FAITH

His LOVE

9:58 AM

Can I just say that the love of our Savior absolutely blows my mind? I think to myself, who am I that my God would look on me with love? What did I do to deserve this life? And the answer is simple. NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. All to him I owe.

As this year is coming to an end, I cannot help but reflect back. This year has been crazy, wonderful, and so much more. God has provided so much. To name a few, He provided me with a safe home in Santa Rosa, a new and very practical car, the proper amount of finances, plus a few extra dollars each month, opportunities to serve, 2 plane tickets to Hawaii (1 to celebrate 2 lives coming together, and 1 to celebrate the end of a life) a generous wedding budget, and oh ya, a husband!! He has answered countless more prayers. So I ask again, how great is our God? I mean seriously!

Take this past week for example. My worries this week have been how am I going to pay this months rent, plus rent when we leave to our honeymoon, and with what money am I going to possibly buy groceries with. Well, when our God says we should trust him, not worry, and that He will provide for us, just as he does the flowers in the field and the birds in the sky, we should do exactly that.

Here is what my God provided for me this week alone:
-a whole bag of homemade tamales, veggie for me, and not spicy meat ones for Will (or wimpy as we like to call them)
-a paid week and a half off work for the holidays
-a very generous gift card to a local restaurant downtown
-and even a gift card to Savory Spice shop!!

*NOTE how not only did God provide, but he threw in the extras as well. I was worried about having food to eat, and paying bills, and not only did I get food and finance, but spices too!

I will leave you with this. God gave me this verse early this week and it has not left my head since.."The Lord is the one who is going ahead of you. He will be with you. He will not leave you or abandon you. So don't be afraid or terrified." Deuteronomy 31:8

AMEN to that!

Happy Holidays everyone.

RECIPES

Biscotti

3:42 PM

So, I made biscotti for the first time.

My recipe began here: http://www.bhg.com/recipe/cookies/double-chocolate-chunk-biscotti/

If you don't have a Better Homes and Garden Cookbook, which seriously every woman should, you should favorite this site. I have a cookbook, and use both the book and website all the time. It is wonderful. You will see. :)

Anyways, I changed the recipe up a bit. I omitted the white chips since I didn't have any, and added double the chocolate. I used chocolate chunks rather than chips. I also added about 1/2 cup dried apricot which I cut into thin slices. Last but not least, I added just a bit of vanilla. To finish these off I drizzled them with chocolate Yum.

OURSTORY

Mugs Galore!

12:37 PM

As some of you know, I have been collecting mugs over the past couple months along with an array of vases. You may ask "why"? And well the answer is this, I decided it would be really fun to collect random coffee mugs which would be displayed at the wedding to be used by guests throughout the evening. It is our hopes that our guests will also take their new-to-them mug home. But who knows, we may end up with a bazillion mugs (slight exaggeration). ;) The only catch was that all the mugs must be under $1. So far, so good, with the exception of 1 mug, which was 2 bucks and just too good to turn down.
Today, I decided it would be wise to see how many mugs we actually have. We are aiming for about 100. So...this morning I gathered up all the mugs which I have been stashing throughout the house in every nook and cranny, washed them, counted them, and re-packed them.
The count: 77
I must say, not too bad. We've got a little less than a month and a half and only 23 to go!
I've included pictures for your viewing pleasure.

My house is beginning to feel a bit like a wedding warehouse. However, I am not complaining. All sooner to married life. ♥

PROJECTS

Button Magnets

7:39 PM

So, what do you do with all those random buttons you have around the house? You know, those ones that come on clothes as a spare, that never actually get used, just stuffed in a drawer somewhere. ;) My advice is make these. And if you don't have any buttons around head down to your local thrift and pick some up or just ask around.

Here is the tutorial. So simple, so easy, and so cute. Hardly a tutorial really.
1. Get buttons
2. Get magnets
3. Get glue (E6000 works great)
4. Glue magnets to buttons
5. Let dry
6. Admire and put to use! :)

I got the idea here: http://www.marthastewart.com/good-things/button-magnets

I think these are just too cute. They immediately went up on my fridge. Perhaps I will find them on yours too.
