as i post these last two pictures for the year and 52 project it is surreal. joining in part way through the year, i couldn't be happier. i cannot wait to start two-thousand-and-fifteen's 52 project. i encourage you to link in as well. you may find all the detail here. i know we will treasure these photos for years to come. it is my  personal goal to grow in photography this next year. it is my hope that continuing this project will help me to get to where i want to be photography wise. this past year i found myself eager to post week after week. i am excited already to start from week one with the fresh, new year upon us.

2014, has brought us so much challenge, joy, laughter, thankfulness, and has brought us closer together than ever before learning what it means to truly work as a team as my husband and i have learned to wrangle two little boys, one car, his full-time job and full-time school schedule. we've spent many nights up late with coffee, study groups and late night flash cards or nights in which we've made it into bed well after midnight as we recount our day to one another as my husband returned home from a late night shifts at the hospital, many nights holding the hand of our two year old as we pray for jesus to take away the bad dreams, or nights nursing our sweet clark back to sleep. we thank the lord for our health, for our strength, for the new roof he put over our head this year, for the baby he grew in my belly, and for job change for my husband, for his hand which has provided just enough each and every month, for our two beautiful boys and clark's (long) but sweet arrival, for healing. we say goodbye to 2014 with smiles on our faces. 2015, we cannot wait for what you are bringing our way.

OURSTORY

christmas part 1

12:12 AM

for christmas this year we celebrated early with my parents before heading up to southern oregon to spend time with our extended family. it is definitely our favorite place to be for the holiday. grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, family all in one place. we don't have that here. we stay with my grandparents, though christmas eve was spent at my cousin's house for an annual gift exchange, and my grandparents for chirstmas dinner. there was tons of food and family, really just a good old time. seeing our children (well, holland at this point) play with his cousins this year was something else. it was the sweetest sight to see them take him under their wings and teach him how to play bumpity bump down the stairs and such. it was also a welcomed break from chasing him all over the place. our two boys are the youngest of the bunch but seemed to fit in just fine. we made the drive back late friday night, and as always have spent the last couple days playing with ideas of could we move there? it's something we always debate before the day to day of our lives where we are set back in. i'm sure this won't be the last we ask ourselves of this, and who knows, maybe one day it will become our reality. what we are sure of is it that we are thankful to have all this wonderful family just a days drive away.

we hope your christmas was filled with delight as well.

p.s. isn't that little fishing pole just the cutest?

so holland had his glory during our little photo shoot during our trip to the christmas tree farm, but i felt like clark got a little short changed being immobile and all, so we spent our morning snapping a few photos of him underneath the christmas tree on his cozy little sheepskin rug in his christmas jammies. it is his first christmas afterall. it suited him well. cozy is his jam. to me, he still looks like the same little baby bear i saw on those first few ultrasounds. sleepy, snugly, sweet.

holland did a great job as assistant photographer, working hard to get a few little smiles out of "my baby clark" as he says. the way clark looks at him just melts me. siblings are something special. i love watching these boys grow together. it still astonishes me, four months later, that these are my sons.

merry first christmas baby bear.

you've probably heard more than you've wanted about us mild weathered californians and the rain storm we're experiencing, but they are deeming it the storm of the century after all. and it just so happens that today marks the start of a glorious vacation for us as my husband finished his last final yesterday, so the four of us found ourselves all home together through the storm and all weekend long. living more city than i've ever lived before we've been able to "enjoy" the storm. we've got no river to watch rise, sandbags to put out, trees to be weary of falling, just a whole lot of mud and some closed streets. the boys were sent out this morning, rain pouring down, for some good old puddle jumping (and to unclog the gutters) while the clark man and i snapped a few photos, smiled really big, and headed back in to nurse, put some hot cocoa on the stove, and run a hot bubble bath for one particular munchkin who came in sopping wet, shivering saying "no, im not cold mamma...im not cold" between shudders. i think we will remember this storm for years to come. and for everyone who is stuck out in it, or working on the roadways to keep the rest of us safe, thank you. we feel incredibly fortunate to be puddle jumping, and don't take it lightly that others are without power, and literally loosing their belongings right now, maybe even their homes are water rises. hold tight. it'll be through with soon.
