OURSTORY

Life as of lately {According to my cell phone photos}

8:24 PM

Well here is what life as of lately has looked like in the Cooper household. At least this past week that is. :)

Snuggles with the little man, who is cute as ever, as well as my husband (he's also as cute as ever might I say). I've had a little extra time off lately to spend with my boys. It has been fabulous.

I made these glorious chocolate mustache pops for a friend's baby shower.  So much fun, and super simple.

I found my molds at amazon for a couple bucks each. The tutorial for these wonderful chocolates can be found here.
I am certain I will make these again and again.
How perfect would they be for a certain little boys birthday?
As for the white tips, I just painted my molds with a layer of white chocolate using a thin paint brush before pouring in the dark chocolate. Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

This momma even got to do a little shopping late last week. My excuse? My dresses aren't fitting anymore, at least some of them that is. ;) And if you know me, dresses are all I wear…summer, winter, spring, and fall. In my book dresses are the way to go. I found this flowy dress at Forever 21 for 29 bucks. I am pretty positive it is my new favorite. With any luck, it will fit the rest of my pregnancy. Baby bump pro, a few new and necessary additions to your closet.

And here is Holland's bump shot. 21 weeks and counting! We now get to feel our little guy moving around in there all the time. I love it. We love it.  His "flutters" are turning into more of nudges and bumps. Let the fun begin! And he isn't shy either! He kicks his daddy's hand just about every night before we drift into sleep.

I also found this amazing vintage clutch which I am STILL super excited about for $3. It is a Halston. I have been searching for a larger clutch for quite some time now. This one will most definitely do, especially with a price like that! If you ask me it's been a pretty great week all around. We are truly blessed my friends.

Oh yes, and food. Lot's of good food around here, like these delicious homemade pizzas. We gobbled them up last night. With a bit of unexpected time off from work lately (the kiddos I watch have been sick), I have been on top of my menu planning, grocery shopping, and meal prep. If you don't meal plan, you should.  You save money and trust me, your week will run way smoother, whether you are just feeding your husband and yourself or a housefly. All it takes is a few minutes, some pen and paper and a little creativity. We manage to get away with just 1 trip to the grocery store a week about 80% of the time! Be thorough. The time you spend checking your pantry will be saved when you don't have to return to the store for a second or third, even fourth time later that week.

That's all the photos I''ve got for now, but there is one more thing. I've got a yummy and super easy
chocolate cake recipe to share with you!  Hopefully I'll get that up tomorrow.  It is made in one bowl for quick making and quick clean up. Who says you can't have cake every day of the week?
;)

Tummy talk.

2:39 PM

It's official. I have an outie. I have been in self denial the past couple days, but there is no denying it. I don't really mind it, I can just only imagine what it will be like a few months from now. Until now, I always thought that was something that happened at the end of your pregnancy. You know, towards the end your belly button sort of pops out as if saying "it's time!". As my dad calls it, it's "the turkey timer". The mark when a women is about to "pop". Well that's not the case here. Sorry to prove your "turkey timer" clock wrong Dad, but indeed it is.

I'll spare you the shot I see when I look down (at least for now). But I won't spare you these. ;)

Alright, the grocery shopping calls. Back to this day.

Until next time,
Mallorie (and Holland too)

12:33 PM

Yesterday marked a very exciting day, baby Holland and I are officially half way through our pregnancy! Woo hoo!! 20 weeks down, 20 more to go.

To celebrate Will and I headed downtown for some coffees and a walk with the pup. Better yet, we came home with way more than that. The Girl Scouts were ever so irresistible and well so were their cookies, so we picked up a box of Samoas as well as a cute $2 dollar plant outside of a store front. I've been looking to add a little greenery to the house and for two bucks the price was right. :) There was also some cleaning, grocery shopping, and food prep that went on, but I won't bore you with that stuff.

We also set-up Will set up, our long awaited bookcase that was delivered yesterday, along with baby Holland's crib! It is time to get his nursery started. I have to say guys, I am pretty darn excited. I can't wait to meet this little booger. He is definitely growing and becoming more squirmy by the day. I am loving every moment of it. And good news, no more migraines! Praise the Lord. This vitamin regimen my doctor recommended has been working fabulously. Being headache free is making for one happy momma-to-be

{We've made it!}

Happy Tuesday friends!

8:13 AM

Here we are, week 18 and 19! This week we had our 19 week ultrasound. Our baby looks perfect according to the doctor, and is very photogenic and cooperative when it comes to getting his photo and measurements taken. :) A good boy thus far. However, if he is anything like my husband, I think we may be in for it.

This week we also got to feel baby kick. I LOVE the feeling. He even put on a little show for his daddy kicking his hand and finger tips right away.

18 Weeks!

From the front I can still be tricky, but there is no denying the baby bump from the side anymore.
{and yes, it actually got warm enough in February to wear shorts, at least for a day!}

19 weeks! It's becoming more obvious from EVERY angle. ;)

And a 19 week profile.
Just a few more days and we are half way there!

Recipe Share: Sticky Bun Breakfast Ring

9:17 AM

So, I must admit, I am a little hesitant to share this recipe. I feel like these sticky buns
could be my own little secret, and honestly, I have thought about hoarding them all to myself,
but because Pinterest so kindly shared with me, I will share with you.

These are simple, quick, and AMAZING. I whipped these up before
church the other day. My husband was stunned when I emerged from the
kitchen under 30 minutes later (most of which was bake time)with this scrumptious
dish. These sticky buns make you look like a bake master no matter what skill level
you're at. ;)

Ingredients:
2 small tubes refrigerator buttermilk biscuits (Trader Joes makes a delicious buttermilk
biscuit if you haveone near by)
3 Tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 C. pancake syrup
1/3 C. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 C. chopped pecans, opt.
1/4 C. chopped almonds, opt.

Method:
Spray a fluted pan(bundt pan) with non-stick spray. Combine the melted butter and
syrup in a small bowl and set aside. In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon,
and nuts (if desired).

Place about half of the syrup mixture in the bottom of the pan. Then sprinkle half of the
brown sugar mixture on top. Lay the biscuits on the bottom of the pan, overlapping edges
(closely together) to form a ring.

Top with remaining syrup and sugar mixtures. Just drizzle it on.

Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool for 1 minute in the pan, then invert onto a serving platter and enjoy!

Alternatives/Ways to spruce this dish up even more:
This dish really doesn't need any sprucing, but if you must…

Place sliced apples between each biscuit before baking or add extra cinnamon
and sprinkle your biscuits with raisins if you are a cooked fruit kind of person. :)
Watch out, these are amazing, ooey-gooey goodness.

You really need to try these soon!! Enjoy!

Hi folks,

Wow, what a week. What a wonderful, wonderful week. Here are a few snapshots from our past week. And a couple bump shots to catch you up. Today I enter week 18, yet I have failed to share week 16 and 17 with you. Time is flying!

It was a festive week starting off with a friend's birthday party and some oh-so-fun (to watch) karaoke

which was followed by some glorious baking with the three-year-olds I nanny for. How adorable are these?

We used this recipe just in case you were curious, adding a little extra vanilla and just a touch more sugar.

Then, I found this adorable footed p.j. outfit for our little Holland. I couldn't resist, plus it's Calvin Klein and was only 7 bucks!

Finally, I started the chalk board project I've been wanting to do forever.  Really I should be applying the second and final coat right now so we can get this guy hung ;)

This mama even got to soak up a little sun yesterday with her husband. Don't you love Saturday mornings? Aaah, I do. Coffee (decaf of course) and sunshine? Yes please!

And now for the bump pictures:

16 lovely weeks.

And here we are, onto 17 weeks.

Our boy is growing! Can you tell?

Which brings us to today, a lazy Sunday. We spent the morning at church, followed by a delicious lunch out with friends and now we are lazing around the house skipping out on the Superbowl madness, at least for now.

Oh yeah, and I also became ridiculously addicted to Pinterest this week. Check out my boards here.
